Happy 2017!
It’s official! This year, the Sifton team and I have gone green(er!) with our move to West 5!
This move is very bittersweet. 195 Dufferin has been our home for twenty years and I love being downtown. I’m honoured and humbled to have had the opportunity to help transform downtown London over the years, including the construction of our iconic and beloved One London Place. This part of the city has transformed us as much as we’ve transformed it.
I’m very proud of what my team and I have built in London over the decades. I’m amazed at how our designs evolved, growing sleeker, greener and more dynamic over the years.
And its all lead up to this: West 5. We’re delighted to play a strong role in bringing London into a more active, sustainable and technologically advanced way of life.
After years of planning, I’ve witnessed West 5 rise before my eyes. What was once just a dream has materialized into what is now the Sifton Centre, our new home. Completely Net Zero, the Sifton Centre runs solely on solar energy and is 100% energy efficient; qualities we aspired to from the very beginning of this project.
The team and I have already begun to assimilate to our new work home, embracing all the new changes that come with it. We’ve welcomed the transition to recycling bins, erasable pens, eco photocopiers, portable work spaces, just to name a few. Our lighting, heating and cooling now adjust automatically to occupancy sensors and sunlight levels. Our windows tint automatically to adjust to the sun throughout the day. Even our roof, complete with solar panels and soon to be greenery, is a reflection of how different West 5 will be.
