I remember washing day at my house. My mom would walk room to room with a basket on her hip rounding-up dirty towels and wayward socks. You could hear the washing machine knocking 2 floors up and freshly laundered T-shirts would magically appear in my room. Those days have long passed. Both Moms and Dads do laundry now and that knocking has been replaced by the quiet hum of an energy efficient washing machine. The green revolution has changed design inside and out in today’s modern home; appliances are just the beginning.
At West 5 our design inspiration comes from nature. We embrace green technology and design; it’s the cornerstone of our planning. Our homes are built using the latest products to maximize energy efficiency (and reduce your utility bills). We harvest rainwater to use in community gardens and solar power to run lights in your home and on the street.
I’ve always believed nature has the knowledge and wisdom to take care of itself. Plants convert light into food, animals add an extra layer of fat to keep the winter cold out. The blueprints to efficiency are all around us – all we have to do is follow their lead.
