Hi, it’s Richard here. They say that every great story has a beginning – and for Sifton, it all started in 1923 here in London, Ontario. My grandfather, Harry Sifton, built his first home at 587 Rosedale Avenue in London, where it still currently stands. Not long after, he began building consecutive homes, and by the mid to late 40’s construction had grown to twenty a year. Over five hundred homes later, my father took the helm and helped to diversify Sifton Properties by embarking into land development and building entire neighbourhoods. Today, Sifton continues to grow. In addition to construction, we own and operate commercial properties, residential rental accommodations, including apartment rentals and townhome rentals, retirement living communities, land lease communities and property management.
I feel a great sense of pride in the legacy that my father – and his father – have left behind, and with our newest project, West 5, I’m hoping to solidify Sifton’s legacy for generations to come. Through innovation in design and material we’re going to change the way that Canada builds communities, and the way communities operate. We’re going to set the bar for green construction and sustainable development, and introduce London to a lifestyle they never imagined.
Every great story has a climax and an unforgettable ending; however, for Sifton Properties, the story is far from over. Rather, West 5 is a new beginning that will serve as a model for future builders, and a new chapter for one of Canada’s best managed companies. We’ve been innovating for close to a century – ninety-two years to be exact, and this legacy project will help carry the Sifton name on for centuries to come. I’m looking forward to sharing it with you.
