I’ll Meet You There

“I’ll meet you by the fountain” was a common statement when I was growing up. When my friends and I went to a movie or out to grab a burger we always met at the “fountain”. Yes, it was a water fountain, but to us it became so much more. It was a landmark, a meeting place. It became part of our neighbourhood’s personality.

Public art and spaces gives us a sense of “place”, what could be uniquely more London than our bright metal trees sprinkled throughout downtown or Victoria Park festivals, or the giant water sculpture at the fork of the Thames? We’re eager to join this long tradition and create our own brand of public art and community spaces. Our style will reflect what’s at the core of West 5, sustainability, versatility, and ingenuity.  Only time will tell what these public art installations will look like, but I know, without a doubt, that each piece of art will bring personality to West 5 and its public spaces.

This will strengthen our community culture and welcome people to our gathering places like the Central Park or the North-South Trail, reminding us that we are all part of this bold community. I’m excited by the creative possibilities on the horizon and when the time comes I look forward to meeting you there.
