Hi, it’s Richard here. One of my personal underlying goals for West5 is to create a community that will contribute to a better tomorrow. We’re going to achieve this goal by employing a multitude of green technology and options throughout the community. There are plenty of examples, such as: office space with windows that automatically tint and lighting that automatically adjusts based on the time of day and room occupancy, and smart heating and cooling systems. In short, better homes and office/retail spaces that exceed all the current building codes and standards.
That’s what we’re doing to help make your life better – but what can you do to make a difference in your own lives?
Making green choices in your own home, or in your lifestyle, doesn’t have to be a chore, nor does it have be intrusive on your schedule or finances. Quite the opposite; in fact, making green choices at home can actually help keep money in your wallet. Some examples of ways you can save energy include: walking or cycling instead of taking the car, reducing your home’s heat or AC usage during peak hours, turning off lights and appliances when you’re not using them and using energy-saving light bulbs. If you’re in the market for new appliances, it’s a good opportunity to invest in energy saving units. There are also a slew of water conversation options that you can easily apply at home. If you’re interested in new technology, there are a number of smart-home devices that help you to identify ways you can conserve energy on a daily basis, by providing you with prompts and monitoring tools.
Making smart choices to help the environment thrive is all of our responsibilities. My hope is that West 5 will provide a model for other builders, and community residents, across the country to follow – and help to kick start a new wave of eco-conscious development and living.
Together we can make a better tomorrow.
